"None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server" - error when sending by Domino IMAP - RESOLVED!

Hi guys

Probably you can help me.
I am trying to let user work with Domino mail by IMAP.
This is not something new for me and I have resolved this task many times before but now I can't :-(

I have a Domino server 8.5.3 FP5 x64 on Windows Server 2008 R2.
I have enabled IMAP task on Domino server, I have converted all mail databases to support IMAP using convert utility. I checked with telnet that 143 (IMAP) and 25(SMTP) ports are opened and reachable. We do not use any encryption currently.

I configured my Outlook 2013 to connect to Domino mail by IMAP and I do receive inbound emails but I can't send anything - I get the error "None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server".

Let me show you several screen shots.

This is how I configured outgoing server - I tried both highlighted options

Standard config on 'Advanced' tab

As you can see here I can log in to receive emails but can't send anything

This is the error message I receive

Domino Configuration document also has a standard settings and should let me send outgoing emails after authentication. The problem is that Outlook can't authenticate.

I Googled a lot and found questions from other people about the same issue but never with resolution.
Do you have any idea what to check/change? Any fix pack? Enable encryption?

Fixed.
It seems like by default Domino server configuration does not accept login and password for SMTP inbound (that is an outgoing server for my Outlook 2013). All you need to do is to set to "Yes" this field:

  1. I just did exactly the same thing (well, I accessed mail via the Apple OS X Mail app) and it works perfectly in 9.0.1FP1. I did not have encryption enabled and my authentication was the same as yours. Can you update?

The only other info I could give you is that at Connect this year IBM stated that they are working on a sync client for Outlook 2013 (Project Hawthorn AFAIK remember) that uses active sync... maybe you could get in on the beta?

Here is the problem I was having trying to use ActiveSync: https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ndseforum.nsf/xpTopicThread.xsp?documentId=D09CC9BABD9626C285257D3C0027EA69
